When many of us were in Junior High in 1979, Iranian revolutionaries attacked the US embassy and held American Citizens hostage for 444 days. The sitting President did sweet F-All. And when he did, good men who served this country in our military forces died because the president ignored what his military advisers told him and eventually the bodies of these brave soldiers were displayed like trophies by the radical Khomeini government. Sadly, the comparisons of Obama to Carter are more accurate than ever.
In the last 2 days 3 embassies have been attacked, a US Ambassador was killed along with 3 other Americans. It is being surmised based on reports of the timeline of events that while the US Ambassador was still unaccounted for, our current President may have went to sleep knowing that the Ambassador was unaccounted for. It is also being reported that the Libyan security forces did little to protect the embassy and may have tipped off the attackers to the location of the Ambassador who was hiding in a secondary building at the Embassy. Finally, it is being reported that the contingent of Marines at the embassy was well below the normal level.
So far our president has rattled a rhetorical sword but has kept on campaigning. And the main stream media have now been caught coordinating questions to create a gotcha moment during a press conference that would embarrass GOP Presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Meanwhile President Obama is giving one on one interviews with Miami DJs and Telemundo, fielding moronic questions about rapper Pitbull or softball/set-up questions on a Spanish-language TV station that allowed him to put out policy talking points and not have to answer serious questions. And when he did address the major media, the President took no questions.
Domestically, the economy is still in a hole despite multiple stimulus packages and investments in alternative (unproven) energy sources, and the healthcare reforms will be devastating (I know this first hand as someone close to me works for a major company that has changed their healthcare to mirror Obamacare and it is a nightmare of epic proportions). Gas prices are rising (while this link addresses Ohio gas prices, here on Long Island prices have risen up to 15 cents per gallon in two days) and the current administration refuses to allow domestic drilling or to increase refining capacity.
Hope and Change is dead. It is an abject failure. Our President was not qualified for the job when he got it and he has not grown into the office. He began his administration on a global apology tour, targeted at the very people attacking our embassies now, and signaled that American was moving from a stance of addressing issues head on to a position of appeasement, apology and bowing to leaders of other countries. He is the emptiest of empty suits and another 4 years is something we cannot allow. This has nothing to do with his race or creed. It has everything to do with him being a rank amateur at leadership who has surrounded himself with sycophantic technocrats who view the United States and the world as some sort of half-assed test laboratory for their useless policies.
On November 6th, we have to put an end to experiments in domestic and foreign policy and replace it with a more sober leadership that acts on facts and serious policy initiatives and not on feelings and a need to be liked.
